During the weekend of 28 & 29 September 2013, an MTB Family Spring Festival was held at Otjiwa Safari Lodge sponsored by BuildIt Otjiwarongo, Ohorongo Cement in conjunction with Otjiwa Safari Lodge.

The race was open for anybody to enter and there was no specific time qualifying requirement.

More than 70 entries were received which exceeded expectations by far, due to the fact that there were a lot of events taking place all over Namibia during the same weekend.

The program kicked off with a Kiddies Fun Ride on Saturday, followed by a 15km Night Ride. The participants raved about the amount of game that they saw during the night ride and there were almost a few collisions with the game, luckily with no injuries.

On Saturday, a 30km and 60km race was held.

It was a bright sunshine day with no cloud cover, and to top it off, a strong breeze picked up, not making it any easier on the participants.

Winners were as follows:

1st: Ilani Avis (Time 1:30:53)
2nd: Andra Van Staden
3rd: Janine Snyman

30km MEN
1st: Jurgens Bosman (Time 1:29:52)
2nd Paul Zietsman
3rd Gerry Young

1st: Charmaine Shannon (Time 2:48:08)

60km MEN

2nd: Gielie Van Wyk

All the winners participated in a lucky draw and Herbert Peters was the lucky winner to walk away with a N$ 2 000 gift voucher at Cycletec, kindly sponsored by Autohaus Windhoek.
