Tsumeb entrepreneurs benefited from a cement donation by Ohorongo Cement, for the reconstruction of the Nomtsoub Community Open Market.

The donation of 40 x 50kg bags of Ohorongo cement, will enable the community members to rebuild their stalls and start to sell their goods again, to sustain their families.

The Nomtsoub Community Market burned down due to a fire early in February. The cause of the fire is yet unknown. It left the entrepreneurs devastated, with no place to conduct business from.

Tsumeb Constituency Councilor, Lebbius Tobias, received the donation on behalf of the Nomtsoub and Omatara Open Market entrepreneurs. He appealed to the private sector and other businesses to follow suit, by opening their hearts and wallets to assist with the needs within their community.

“Ohorongo immediately responded positively to our request and was one of the first companies who committed to provide their support through sponsorship,” said the Councilor.

The Chairperson of the Omatara Market, Mr Thomas Simon, thanked Ohorongo Cement on behalf of the recipients of the donation.

“We could not do business and we are left without an income. Some of us have lost everything we owned,” he said.

“It is a great privilege for Ohorongo to be able to assist the community in need. Some of our employees are from Tsumeb and resides in Tsumeb. Thus, we fully support this initiative to rebuild the market and we are thankful for being afforded the opportunity,” said Rudolf Coetzee, General Administration Manager of Ohorongo.
