OOCT donates wheelchairs and walking frames

Disabled people of the Oshikoto and Tsumeb district recently benefited from a donation of 100 wheelchairs and 26 walking frames by OOCT (Ohorongo-Otavi Community Trust) and SUPPORT e.V. in Ulm, Germany. The hand-over was done during the recent 10th Copper Festival in Tsumeb in association with the Lions Club and Tsumeb Private Hospital. Hon. Lebius Tobias (MP) hospital thanked OOCT & SUPPORT e.V. in helping to meet the great need for equipment for the disabled in their community. As part of Ohorongo Cement (PTY) Ltds commitment to develop the Otavi community, the company, in co-operation with the OOCT , focus on the needs of the local community within the Otjozondjupa region.

The group is committed to invest in Otavis public infrastructure, the towns social upliftment and overall development thereof. Some of the previous projects that OOCT and SUPPORT e.V. has done in the past includes amongst others the refurbishment of the Otavi playground, the renovation of the Otavi Health Clinic, the setting up of an Albino Corner, donation of hospital & specialized medical equipment, donation of sun creams and financial support to Khorab Secondary School. On a previous occasion another 100 wheelchairs and 48 walking frames were donated to the disabled in the community.
